Shiv Sena’s protests against My Name is Khan shows the level to which a political party can stoop so as to stay in the news. After being pushed into the corner and revealed as a toothless tiger by the voters—here’s a foolhardy attempt to resurrect itself. Shahrukh Kan was bold and frank enough to admit that there are issues and we should not treat any players the way the Pakistani players were treated (The world of sports should be free from politics). And of course we are the world’s largest democracy and we welcome everyone with open arms. So why this ruckus? A foolish attempt to stay in news, and to show that the party still matters?
The party with this apparent goondaism and fascist attitude has opened itself to ridicule. Does it not realize the hardship of the common people, and the amounts of money people are losing? What will it gain by stopping a show, destroying screens and breaking glass panes of movie theatres and scaring people who have come to buy tickets for the movie? Nothing at all—its only revealing their true colors and exposing their intentions. But the people should not be cowered by this cowardly show, which is just a weak attempt to put fear in everyone’s mind.
We should all go out in droves and see the movie!!! That would be a true defeat for all the political parties or people who share similar fascist attitude. And yes, the whole world is watching us!!
